Irish Emigrants
When there was a great potato famine in Ireland, millions of Irish immigrants entered America in search of potatoes. Most of the Irish Immigrants settled in the East Coast, mainly Boston and New York. Though they came in peace, the American citizens did not treat them kindly when they arrived. They were discriminated against by being restricted from having jobs besides working on the railroad.
Reasons for movingThere was a potato famine in Ireland due to an outbreak of blight. With all the deaths, many fled the country and moved to America.

What caused the famineIn the early 1800's, a blight-disease- began spreading around Ireland killing over 50% of the country's potato crop. Over a million people died, causing millions to flee the country and eventually end up in America as some of the poorest immigrants in the West.
