Mexican immingrantsAfter the Mexican-American war in 1846-1848, some Mexican citizens moved into the western United States- mainly California. And the Mexicans living in Texas already had settled, but were still treated like outsiders despite the fact that they were now citizens of the United States of America. They were also restricted to working hard jobs on farms or railroads. Unless they got lucky and owned a ranch themselves.

Native AmericansNative Americans lived in the lands of America before settlers came to live. But with more white men coming in and pushing the Indians farther west, despite their will to be peaceful, the president Andrew Jackson forcefully made them sign a treaty to leave. In the 1830's many Indians were forced out of their homeland and walked thousands of miles on what is now known as the "Trail of Tears".

The ChineseAround the time of the Gold Rush, the Chinese started moving into America. Most of them arrived in the ports of San Francisco in search of fortune. They contributed a lot to the economic and population flourishing back in the late 1800's. Since the Chinese proved to be such good workers, they were assigned the hardest jobs that no one else wanted to do. Such as, working in marshes, constructing roads, building bridges and building railroads. Similar to the other groups, the Chinese were discriminated against immediately and continuously throughout there stay.
