Mormons Beliefs
Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was organized in 1830. The Mormons also believed that returning to God requires following the example of Jesus Christ and accepting his atonement through ordinances such as baptism. They believe that Christ's church was restored through Joseph Smith and is guided by living Prophets and Apostles. Another belief that the Mormons believed that their church is the same as the original church Jesus established when he was on the Earth.
Migration WestIn 1846 the Mormons started there migration West. The Mormons wanted to travel west to settle because in the West they were free to practice there religion without being punished and there was open land there that they could start there own Mormon societies. By the 1900's there were hundreds of Mormon settlements established throughout the west. The headquarters or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was established in Salt Lake City.

DiscriminationThe first Mormon pioneer was Joseph Smith who saw a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ in 1820. After that Joseph and any others who believed or supported him and the religion was persecuted. Over the years the persecutions of the Mormons increased and believers were chased by angry mobs from town to town and state to state. An example was when the Mormon pioneers located in Missouri were forced out of stare by an extermination order by Governor Lilbum W. Boggs. Also the Mormon Pioneers homes and farms were burned, livestock stolen, and women raped.
